We’re big fans of breakfast. We’re also big fans of brunch. Actually, we also love breakfast at dinnertime. I mean, what kind of person says no to a couple of strips of crispy bacon and some fluffy pancakes at any time of the day? Not us!

In fact, we love pancakes because they can accompany all kinds of things – both sweet and savory – and they can work as a great base for creating all kinds of treats like Apple German Pancake Cake, Sausage and Cheese Pancake Casserole, and pancake sundaes.

How to Make Pancakes

Everyone, and we mean everyone, should know how to make pancakes. It’s one of the standbys like a homemade mac-n-cheese and a being able to whip up a formidable batch of mashed potatoes.

Start by gathering your pancake ingredients: 2 cups of flour; 2 Tbsp white granulated sugar; 2 tsp baking powder; 1/2 tsp salt; 2 Tbsp butter (melted); 1 1/2 cup of milk; 1 medium egg. Mix together dry ingredients (flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt). Sift in flour if you want to avoid clumping, although we whip these up all the time without this step, so it’s not a total necessity.

In a separate bowl, add the milk and egg and use a whisk to whip together. Melt the butter and add it into the mixture, whipping it in quickly to avoid it solidifying in the cool mixture. Once this is mixed together, add the flour mixture in slowly, whisking away to mix both together.

Once you’ve finally got your pancake batter, you’re ready to cook them. Heat butter in a large skillet or griddle pan over medium heat. Once butter melts, spoon the pancake mixture into the pan, creating pancakes sized circles. Cook for 3-4 minutes or until little bubbles form on the top of the batter. Once this happens, flip the pancake over and cook for an addition 2-3 minutes or until a golden brown color. Top with butter and whatever toppings you prefer.
