How To Make Lemonade
How to make lemonade? A post about how to make lemonade? How ridiculous! I know, right! Except it has been my experience that we forget how good a glass of homemade lemonade is and, I believe, we forget this because we don’t make it. We buy the stuff at the store that does’t taste like lemonade then go on believing that this is what real lemonade tastes like. Our base line has been changed for the worst. Or, we buy the powdered stuff and the same thing happens. There isn’t a kid who knows what real lemonade tastes like or how to make it. It never fails to happen when I serve freshly made lemonade – the questioning look, the ‘did you make this fresh’, the ‘hmmm, I didn’t think you could do that’ look, and then the ‘can you give me the recipe’.
How To Make Lemonade – The Squeeze
What is worse is that we have given up something so simple and delicious that takes about 10 minutes to make. Really? Really! Basically, you squeeze some lemons until you have about a cup of juice. You add some simple syrup…wait, wait wait. I take it back. It takes 20 minutes to make because making simple syrup – boiling some sugar and water together takes some extra time. Anyway, 1 cup of lemon juice + 1 cup of simple syrup then you dilute it with cold water until it tastes just like you like it. Boom! That’s easy. Pour over ice and have your baseline reset with deliciousness.

How To Make Lemonade – The Twist
For those few who are already familiar with how to make lemonade and do so regularly, here is a way to bring it to the next level. Add a dash of raspberry. Take a some raspberries, frozen if needed, and add a dash of water and sugar. Simmer this mixture until the raspberries become saucy. Strain the berries through a sieve – no seeds needed. Then add a dash of this raspberry elixir to the lemonade. Yes, homemade lemonade is fantastic, but raspberry lemonade is even more fantastic.
